The Boston University hockey team will begin the year in the same spot it ended last year, looking up at two conference rivals in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll, which was announced Monday.

The Terriers sit at No. 6, while Boston College is perched at No. 3 and defending national runner up and Hockey East Champion New Hampshire is locked in at No. 4. BC received two first-place votes while New Hampshire got one.

Fellow conference rival Maine came in at No. 12, while Beanpot nemesis Harvard is breathing down BU's neck at No. 7. Ticketmaster

Two-time defending national champion Minnesota picked up 25 of the 30 first-place votes to hold down the top spot, while Michigan, which fell to Minnesota in the national semifinals last year, took No. 2. Ticketmaster

BU began last season a spot higher at No. 5.

The Hockey East coaches' poll will be announced at the conference's media day Tuesday at the FleetCenter.
