Milan Michalek scored with 5:44 left as the San Jose Sharks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 Saturday night in both teams' exhibition finale.

Michalek, the sixth overall pick in last June's draft, got a pass from Scott Parker and beat David Aebischer for his second goal of the preseason. Michalek, a smooth wing who already has played professionally in the Czech Republic, is expected to make San Jose's roster after an impressive training camp.

Rob Blake and Joe Sakic scored for Colorado -- and Teemu Selanne was booed in the half-empty Shark Tank every time he touched the puck.

Selanne, the Sharks' leading goal-scorer in each of the past two seasons, turned down his $6.5 million player option with San Jose for this season to sign for less money in Colorado. Selanne assisted on Sakic's goal early in the third period. Ticketmaster

Alex Korolyuk scored on a penalty shot and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 32 shots as the Sharks finished the preseason on a four-game unbeaten streak. Nabokov was sharp against Colorado's star-studded offense, cutting down angles and controlling the puck well. Ticketmaster

The Sharks held an early 2-0 lead. Alyn McCauley got his first preseason goal on a rebound of Rob Davison's shot late in the first period.

Less than a minute later, Korolyuk was hooked by John-Michael Liles on a breakaway. Korolyuk deked and beat Aebischer with a backhand for his first goal since rejoining the Sharks this fall following a year back in his native Russia.

San Jose opens the regular season Thursday in Edmonton. Colorado's season begins Friday at home against Chicago.
