Atlanta Thrashers All-Star right wing Dany Heatley, who was involved in a car accident that left teammate Dan Snyder in critical condition, has severe damage in his right knee.

An MRI on Friday showed Heatley has complete tears in his ACL and MCL and a torn lateral mensicus. Still hospitalized and facing charges, he will undergo surgery sometime in the next seven to 10 days and is sidelined indefinitely.

The knee surgery will not be the only procedure Heatley undergoes. He will have an operation to repair a fractured jaw Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Heatley got some good news on his left shoulder, which will not need surgery. An MRI confirmed that there is no injury to the bones, ligaments or rotator cuff, although there is limited nerve damage to the muscles in the shoulder.

Snyder, 25, remains in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital after undergoing surgery to treat a depressed skull fracture. Ticketmaster

"Our son, Dan, remains in critical condition," Snyder's family said in a statement. "The doctors are conducting a lot of measurements on his brain and all levels at this time are in a normal range. His condition seems to improve every day."

According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Snyder's neurosurgeon, the player's medical condition remains unchanged.

Snyder was a passenger in Heatley's Ferrari late Monday night when it struck a pillar near a condominium complex in Atlanta's Buckhead section. According to police reports, the vehicle was traveling in excess of 80 miles per hour at the time of the collision. Ticketmaster

Heatley faces four charges, including serious injury by vehicle, a felony.

The Thrashers played for the second time since the accident on Friday, taking on the Nashville Predators in a preseason game.

The Thrashers have honored their injured teammates by putting their numbers on their helmets.
