Sweden's Michael Nylander, center on the top-scoring line for the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals , will miss four to six weeks after breaking his right leg in practice.
The club announced Friday that Nylander will be sidelined for the first time since April of 1999, ending the NHL's second-longest active streak of consecutive games played at 310 when regular-season play begins next week.
Nylander, who could miss up to 15 games, suffered a fracture just above the ankle when he was checked against the boards by rookie defenseman Nolan Yonkman on Thursday.
During training camp, Nylander centered a line with superstar Czech right wing Jaromir Jagr and tough left wing Mike Grier. Nylander played alongside Jagr most of last season. Ticketmaster
